Shortcut Blocks are a piecing method I developed over several years of selling my quilted items to a local store. I wanted to piece with less math and less time involved. So my methods involve quick and easy steps.

YOU WILL NEED A TEMPLATE. THE SIZE DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF QUILT BLOCK YOU ARE MAKING.

You can use a 2 1/2" square template to make one of my quilt block designs into a 12 1/2" quilt block.

To make them smaller or larger just use a different size template.

All of my shortcut blocks use a cut down method of sewing fabric pieces together and then cutting a square from the center.

Here you can see an example of how this works. This is a Boston Block. You can use triangles or you can use scraps. See the complete tutorial in the Shortcut Block tab above.
